Before installation
is carried out a survey is conducted to record all features of
the property and to ascertain the suitability for insulation.
The cavity wall installation survey consists of 5 main points:
- The type of cavity construction
- The width of the cavity
- The area of the wall to be filled
- The condition of the structure
- The services through the cavity which would be affected
by cavity fill, eg ventilation, gas flues, etc.
An accurate assessment of a property can only be completed
by surveying the crucial points affecting cavity wall
insulation. Therefore we always ensure that:
- Cavity barriers will be fitted where required
- There is a cavity and it is free of debris
- All waste down pipes are in good working order
- The airbricks are sleeved
- The damp proof course is not defective
- There are no areas of solid wall
- The cavity heads are sealed
- There is adequate roof ventilation
- There is no interior damp
- There is no condensation damp
- All meter boxes are sealed
